do I need to use Skype?

How
do I create a Skype account?
Once you have downloaded Skype to your computer,
you will be asked to create a Skype username and a Skype
Personal Profile (optional). Your Skype Personal Profile
can be seen by other Skype users who will be able to search
for you using this information. |

What
is SkypeOut?
With SkypeOut, you can use Skype to call regular landlines
and mobile phones. In the UK you can save up to 45% per
minute when calling a landline telephone number in the
UK. To use SkypeOut you need to buy Skype Credit,
which can be bought via your Account tab or from the Skype
website. Select the amount of credit you wish to add and
make the payment then switch back to your Skype window,
dial a number and call. To top up up your Skype Credit
simply return to your Account page when you need to buy
more. |

What
are Skype vouchers?
Use a Skype voucher to top up your Skype Account and start making global calls at local rates.
You can buy a Skype voucher at the checkout desks of Sainsburys
supermarkets. Skype vouchers can be bouoght
and used in the same way as pre-pay 'top-up' vouchers
work with mobile phones. Each voucher has a unique PIN
code that is entered into your Skype account page via
the SKype website. Once activated the Skype credit is
available for use.

What
is SkypeIn?
You can get your own, regular phone number with SkypeIn which, means friends and contacts
who don't use SKype can call you and you pick up the call
using Skype. Friends all over the world can use this number
to reach you and will only pay for the call rate of your
country-based SkypeIn number.
So if you are in New York and have a London-based SkypeIn
number, your friends can dial your SkypeIn number and
your friends will only pay for making a call to London.
You can have up to 10 SkypeIn numbers and keep your friends
guessing your real whereabouts!
SkypeIn numbers are sold on a subscription fee and can
be purchased via your Account tab on your Skype window
(or your Account page on the Skype website). 3 month SkypeIn
subscription is €10
12 month SkypeIn subscription is €30 |

Does
Skype provide voicemail?
Yes, if you are offline or can't pick up the call Skype
Voicemail will receive the call. You can also
send voicemail messages to other Skype users without disturbing
them. Skype Voicemail can be purchased on the Skype website
for a small fee of €5 for 3 months or €15 for
a year. Skype Voicemail comes free when you buy a SkypeIn
